Our White Truffle Dinner is November 16 at Dino.  All I can say is that if you like truffles already, this year’s batch is the best flavored and most aromatic I have seen since 1999.  And if you have never had them, you simply need to do so.  While we have truffles on risotto or parpardelle available tonight and should have them thru Monday night, an evening of 7 courses of truffles will simply amaze you. 

 

Last year, due to a short and low quality crop, the truffle dinner we served had about 4 grams of truffle per person.  This year's will have over 10grams per person served over 5 courses.  Plus there will be two dishes featuring Burgundy Truffles, a relation to the black truffle that comes to life when cooked, will be really something.  We need to place our order on Wednesday for the dinner; so if you have been trying to decide, now is the time to make up your mind so you are not disappointed.  If you reserve by Wednesday, we will be able to assure you of your space.  After that, it will be on a truffle available basis.  So don’t be left out! 

 

The cost of the meal is $140.00 per person. Highlights of the menu include the classic Risotto with White truffle, Scallop in the Shell with a Black or Burgundy Truffle Butter Sauce, Wild Boar Strip Loin with a Red Wine Sauce & White Truffles.  There will be two wine flights available, Damned Good for $49 and Even Better for $99.  If you wish to attend, please call the restaurant to reserve.  Reservations are by credit card only.  We will not be able to accept cancellations after Wednesday at 5pm.  Any reservation made by 9pm Wednesday will guarantee you a spot.  If you reserve after, it will be on a truffle available basis.

 About the Truffle!

 

Italy’s White Truffle is a wonder.  Only in selected spots of Italy: Acqualagna in Le Marche, Norcia in Umbria and in the surroundings of Alba in Piemonte does this amazing treat grow.  They form in the root systems of certain kinds of oaks usually starting in mid-October and running thru December.  Very rare, hard to find and stunningly aromatic, white truffles are one of the most expensive treats of the year.  This year's truffles are amazing, the best I have had since 1999.  They are running pale white and highly aromatic!
